Position Description: WVACHS Research Assistant

Summary: This position focuses on providing research support to the West Virginia Alliance for Creative Health Solutions, Inc. (WVACHS). In keeping with the WVACHS' intent to help build future health care leaders, we welcome applications from medical and allied health students.

 

About the Research Assistant position: This is a contract position, non-benefits eligible. Estimated hours of work per week and hourly rate are negotiable. Paid bi-weekly upon documentation of hours engaged in WVACHS activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews supportive of current and/or planned research efforts

  • Assist with data scanning, entry, and data quality procedures

  • Assist with manuscript writing

  • Assist with grant writing

  • Assist with information dissemination through social media outlets

  • Meet ad-hoc via online meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) with WVACHS membership

  • Take part membership meetings ad hoc

Physical Demands

Work Environment

Ability to work independently and function well within a team setting.

Remote.

Requisite Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred in social/health science or related field;

  • Or, 2 or more years of experience in community interventions, public health research, or public health programming/implementation;

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience

Certifications & Licenses

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification required (if not at time of hire, then directly upon hiring)

  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and explain potentially complex concepts to others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

  • Knowledge of safeguards for protected health information.

  • Ability to create, annotate, and maintain detailed records.

  • Ability to operate a computer utilizing various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe).

  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative in carrying out job responsibilities.

  • Ability to set deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner.

  • Ability to maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
